Jamiyah Kindergarten (JK) provides a nurturing environment for children to learn and play alongside others, thus learning much about friendship, co-operation and appropriate behaviour. They will be involved in problem-solving activities, motor skills activities, reading, and will be engaged learners during learning centre activities.
They will work as a team and facilitate one another. This creates team-spirit and mutual respect for all. With the varied materials for learning, the children develops a love for learning and will be motivated to express their feelings and emotions. This instils intrinsic motivation and guide them higher level of cognitive development.
JK’s curriculum programme is based on MOE’s NEL (2013), providing quality teaching practices and developing children’s learning. The kindergarten uses iTEACH to guide teaching and learning.
Nursery 1: 3 years old.
Children will have a lot of hands-on activities to develop their gross and fine
motor skills. They will be introduced to stories through books, puppets, drama, songs and many more. Children at this age will also learn basic practical life skills which helps them to be independent individuals and in the later stage of their life. They learn simple Math concept and phonetic sounds of the alphabet. The activities are also designed to meet and support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development needs of the children.
Nursery 2: 4 years old
The children will be developing their pre-writing skills and recognition of alphabets and numbers to prepare them for the following year.
Sharing session will also help them to socialize among friends and learn to listen to others. Jamiyah Kindergarten also introduces child initiated activities gradually, unique to the pace of the child.
Kindergarten: 5 to 6 years old
Kindergarten children will be groomed to be confident speakers through various activities such as News Discussions (current affairs), Show & Tell session, drama and role play. School will collaborate with the parents for the development of the children. During this time, Jamiyah Kindergarten encourages our children to take up specific enrichment programs that will be introduced to help enhance the topics learned.
Mother Tongue Languages
We provide various languages in our centre such as Malay and Tamil to complete your child’s fundamental learning towards a holistic development. The importance of knowing the Malay and Tamil phonetic letter sounds will help children develop into early readers.
With the balanced approach of these languages, your child will learn to master all areas taught and graduate from our school to be confident and keen learners.
